MusicBizMentors Program & Services

Our goal is to have two “MEET THE MENTORS” Networking panels twice a year. Our first one will take place in May 2016, additional mentors will be introduced in July 2016 and again, at our one day event in the fall.

All of our Music Business Mentors have been chosen because of their dedication to encourage new musicians to grow their music careers. These music business professionals are “ACTIVE” industry people who know how to “GET THINGS 
DONE!Services listed below.

“MEET THE MENTORS” Network Panels

These networking panels begin with the mentors explaining their expertise and then presenting some advice for musicians on how to grow their careers. During the second part of this event, each mentor will sit with a small group (8 to 10 musicians in a group) and give tips and answer questions. Each mentor will rotate to each group so everyone at the event feels they got some personal attention.

Each of these presenters will be doing their own 2 hour workshop in the future and will be available for personal mentor appointments.

Mentor Appointments

Mentors have agreed to meet one time with musicians for $40 for 40 minutes. The musician needs to gather questions and music samples for the mentor to review (a 10 minute review time as been planned) and the MusicBizMentors will arrange a 30 minute Skype or phone meeting with the mentor. If you need additional mentor sessions, you are allowed 2 sessions with the same mentor for the initial fee. If you need more time, please ask each mentor about their private consulting price.

Payments are to be made through PayPal one week before your mentors meeting.

Ben McLane, Esq is an entertainment attorney veteran focusing primarily on music, with many gold/platinum albums and Billboard Top 10 and #1 chart hits to his credit for his work in conjunction with musical artists/projects in various genres over the years (e.g., Guns & Roses, Dixie Chicks, Nine Inch Nails, Alicia Keys, etc.).

Ben has also been involved in artist management, talent scouting, promotions, and record label operations in the entertainment field. Ben is one of the few entertainment attorneys who actively “shops” record, publishing and distribution deals for new and established artists, producers and songwriters. Currently, Ben is teaching Music Business Law & Contracts at Los Angeles College of Music [LACM] in Pasadena, CA.

Ben is a 1991 graduate of Pepperdine Law School and lives and works in the Los Angeles area.

Starting in Philadelphia and the moving to Los Angeles, Chris Fletcher started her independent touring & promotion company, Coast to Coast Music, in 1989. While working full time at a small record company, Ms. Fletcher helped secure 20 endorsements, 2 major sponsorships and 4 music grants for her indie artists. Her expertise lies in navigating live events and tours though detailed networking at College and Festival booking conferences.

For 6+ years, Fletcher placed 500+ music business students a year into internships with over 600 Music Industry companies at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. Today, she continues at Musicians Institute teaching touring and management classes and serves as a career counselor. Her music education program ‘thecoolschool’ produces 15 music business workshops each year.

Fletcher actively has 4 artists on her touring roster and she continues to consult in the area of touring, artist development, sponsorship/branding projects and planning EP/CD releases. She is currently working on her “Planning Your First Tour” workbook scheduled to be released in early 2017.
